An editorial perspective · 17 October 2026
A charitable purpose can recognise both the value of wellbeing support and the importance of opportunities to take part.
Two objects, one foundation
Sanibel’s objects promote positive mental health and community participation in healthy recreation. They provide two complementary routes for charitable activity.
Practical opportunities matter
A local club can be a place to train, learn and work with others. Facilities, transport and coaching can shape the practical opportunity to participate. The 2026 report gives examples of support in those areas.
People need opportunities to take part, as well as space for their wellbeing.
Purpose and evidence
It is useful to distinguish a charitable aim from a measured result. Sanibel’s latest report documents awards and projects. It does not provide a study of mental-health outcomes from those projects, and this article does not claim one.
